I’m quite sure that all the toys are not equally happy... And I’m quite sure too that each toy, in its pure and simple toy’s mind, is dreaming about getting a nice girl, a good boy, as a friend, as a brother to play with, just wishing to find a kind one, a tender one, a real child, not a killer... And, until that moment of happiness, some of them are boring, crying, fearing, declining... Then suddenly, something happens, two faces recognize themselves through the window, two smiles are merged into a big one and then a new life begins... A real life.
So, Christmas is coming soon, and not all the kids will laugh as they should do, and not all the toys will find their brothers, but I just wish that most of them, toys and kids, kids and kids, adults and adults, could meet and play together the most wonderful game on earth : brotherhood...

I took this photo recently at a funfair, through the window of this kind of game, you know, where you are “fishing” some toys with some small and crazy hand-crane, and it is amazing how that cute cuddly Nemo seemed to look and smile at me, and try to tell me : “Please, take me away with you, my friend, I’m a nice one...!!”
But the poor ducky duck just behind seems to be hanged and all the other ones are crying or sleeping in desperation...
So I’ve manipulated this picture to increase the contrast between joy and sadness, colour and greyness, love and loneliness...

Aww! I always looked at toys the same way! Especially when it's the same toy and there's lots of them, I hate buying just one :(.

Nice job with the mirrors, you always get the edges perfect when desaturating parts of a photo! :D

I never threw any of my stuffed animals away from childhood, they were some of my best friends growing up because I moved around a lot...they are still locked in my grandmothers attic to be saved for my future children. They still have a few more years up in that attic...:)

I love how you chose to color that one smiling fish. That toy up and to the right of the fish looks sad, it has a big frown on its face. Anyway, a wonderful photograph...it brings back so many childhood memories.
